Outlander Season 4 Collector’s Edition

90fa0b66-667b-4ea0-81ba-57710f394964._CR0,0,300,300_PT0_SX300__Official release date is May 28, 2019. But some of the features have already leaked out on the internet. I highly recommend the Collector’s Edition. The packaging has been great for previous seasons, and this season they are adding even more features.

To get the deluxe  collector’s edition or not, is the question. I will tell you that I did not for Season 2 and regretted it as the packaging for the Blue-ray makes you jumble and shuffle the discs in storage. The price has officially dropped in Season 4 Collector’s Edition, averaging $44.98 US from the original $68.99. UK £20.00 to £30.00 . UK Amazon not offering the collectors edition at this time. As promised this boxed set includes some features including:

  1. 28 page book featuring exclusive photography (this means it’s probably already leaked on the internet so keep a look out for more BTS and exclusive photos in the next two months for your Pinterest collecting and your own blogging obsessions.
  2. Exclusive sneak peaks from Diana Gabaldon’s New Book, Go Tell the Bees That I am Gone, book 9
  3. Season 4 soundtrack. I will still wait for this to be released by Bear McCreary on vinyl, but nice to have. The music this season can be read in detail in his website posting. However out of all the seasons, it’s the one that didn’t grab me much.
  4. Outlander Untold 4 Bonus Scenes that are already leaking on YouTube. It may be worth it for these left out stories that help cement characters relationships
  5.  4 Featurettes on making of the season and and Season 4 relationships
  6. Deleted and extended scenes, starting to leak out already but good to have your own clean copy.
  7. Gag reel

In the UK, it is  being packaged as an “Untold Edition” at Amazon, running at about £27.00 for the Blu-ray.

‘Outlander Untold’

In ‘Outlander Untold’ found on the ‘Outlander’ Season 4 Blu-ray and DVD, dive deeper into the season with four all-new bonus scenes featuring fan-favorite characters. These extended stories dive into Lord John Grey’s life as a single father to William, Murtagh and Marsali navigating a confrontation with deceitful landlords, Young Ian meeting Rollo for the first time, and Aunt Jocasta teaching Phaedre & Lizzie a lesson about working together.

Season 5 Returns, Casting Calls?

IMG_2757

Sam Heughan Instagram

Fans are already rewatching seasons 1 through 3, and watching downloads of season 4 to get through the dreaded Droughtlander. For the last two weeks, main cast members confirmed they are returning to work at Wardpark Studios in Cumbernauld, outside of Glasgow. Sophie Skelton, Caitriona Balfe, and Duncan Lacroix have all had great Instagram moments. The following actors have been confirmed for the season:

Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, Richard Rankin, Sophie Skelton, Cesar Domboy, John Bell, Duncan Lacroix, Ed Speleers who is off filming an indie film in the Glasgow Scotland area this week, and Lauren Lyle.

img_2088Still waiting on confirmation for newer characters from Season 4 returning for Season 5, however as they are integral to The Fiery Cross, the 5th book in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander Series, they should be making an appearance. Maria Kennedy Doyle, Colin McFarlane, and Tim Downie as Gov. Tryon. We definitely expect to see Tryon again as the storyline will be driven by the War of the Regulators, a precursor war about over taxation that began the path to the American Revolution. The Governor is keen to stamp out the insurgency, and fully fund his new mansion. IMG_1975

The show averages 8 months of filming and 4 of production/editing on the back end. We are heading into a 2020 spring or summer timeframe for Season 5.

Casting has gone out for two sets of twins, presumably for Jemmy, Roger and Brianna’s child. One for a year old and one for toddler.

Stay tuned on the main Outlander IMDh page as season 5 information slowly makes its way forward.

Outlander Season 5 Production Heats Up, Actors and Set Designers Tease

Duncan season 5 start

This morning we awoke to Duncan Lacroix staring over his own shoulder. The offices are filling up with not only production crew, but the actors are coming in to get ready for read throughs and fittings.

Production: Jon Gary Steele has been busy on his Instagram account helping everyone survive along with Matt Roberts. Jon has been featuring BTS of builds both on site and in the studios at Wardpark Film and Television studios. We are left guessing which scene, which episode, and the identity of some items not quite finished. Jon has been showing some great pre build bones on the set of the cabins, and one this week that may be S5’s Big House. Fans of the Outlander Books are waiting for representation of their favorite parts of Fraser’s Ridge. We were hoping for a cabin build for Murtagh, but with the cliff hanger in Season 4, were’s hoping that Jamie and Claire may still build it in the hope someday he can live out his days there. Perhaps a very deep basement to hide in with access to the outside with escape tunnels. What, Jon can do that.

Link to Caitriona’s Back Stage tour

Looking at the set builds both at the studios with Caitriona Balfe’s live action B&W set building tour was a blast this week, she even caught a dodging Jon Gary Steele, not one for the limelight, but who is kind to share the magnificent work his crew does daily.

For those of you lucky enough to start chasing the film crews as they start up in the next few months, here are the locales for River Run and the Indian Village, Frasers Ridge.

River Run was filmed here last year

Abercairny Estates, Crieff

Frasers Ridge was filmed in parts of  these two areas. You will have to hunt for the various places filmed:

Cumbernauld House Park and Glen

Calderglen County Park

Do you know where? Kept a huge secret because of roaming laws in Scotland, as well as landowners in the area. Places where outdoor scenes have been filmed are in

Indian Villages were created in:

Faskally Wood

Update: Kavanaugh, McTavish, and Co.

Many of you joined me in following Duncan Lacroix’s recent visit to New Zealand. He wasn’t the only visitor to Graham McTavish’s doorstep. The screenwriter and one of the actors in the ensemble cast of Graham’s upcoming film and directorial debut, This Guest of Summer, Paul Kavanaugh, was visiting and doing some pre-production work with Graham. I recently had a response from one of the co-producers from the crowdfunding page, that yes, filming is still on for November 2019, postponed as all film crews in New Zealand and Australia seem to be booked solid for a really big couple of films. No names here, but there is one franchise that is sucking up all the resources from both countries, and you can find that out elsewhere.IMG_2629

A recent Tweet from Paul Kavanaugh kicked off the preproduction work. It promised to be a very quirky, mysterious, creep-filled film.

Graham has been busy with other projects while he eagerly waits to get filming on his passion project, and directorial debut. The crowd funding officially ended, however you can still contribute to the film I believe, contact them via Indiagogo.

Other actors joining the ensemble are Stephen Walters as Catcher, Lacroix as Flayal, Adam Brown (The Hobbit) as Miss Lady, Dean O’Gorman as Michael (The Hobbit), and Kavanagh is Chris. You can check out some of the other cast here. It’s a male character heavy production, with Miss Lady as the powerful balancer here. Can’t wait for this performance.

Visit Paul’s Twitter for some fun video feeds from Graham, Paul, and Duncan. More interviews to come. Paul Kavanaugh on Twitter.

Catch Diana Gabaldon at One of Outlander’s Filming Sites next week

Outlander Literary Evening at Hopetoun House, With Diana Gabaldon

March 15 SOLD OUT!

If you are lucky enough to be traveling in Scotland, or live there of course, I hope you were able to secure tickets. This estate was featured in Outlander Season 1 , Duke of Sandringham’s rented estate while visiting Clan MacKenzie. It is where Claire and Jamie request a pardon for Jamie, and petition against Black Jack Randall. Jamie of course gets in trouble being a second for the Duke at a duel against The MacDonald.

I am very glad to see that the even was very reasonably priced an no booking fees. Bravo Publishing Scotland!

I was fortunate enough to catch Diana at The Armoury here in Portland two years ago. We had a wonderful time, however that pales to the time spent in a filing location, and one so grand as this. If you are one of the very lucky few to go to this event, please share with us your wonderful experiences.
